You don’t need it from me, no. You need it from you.
Only you can give yourself what you need. It is up to you to find what that is and then go get it. I’ve said it before, and agree that there is no such thing as a self made person. Rather, we are elevated by riding the shoulders of giants. However, it is first up to us to give ourselves the permission slip to live the lives we want so that we can live life how we want.
How many of you have been knocked down again and again? You feel like every step forward is two steps backward? My hand is up because I have been there, and most recently, I found myself knocked back down to the floor. But, as Les Brown says,
“When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up.”
If you are lying on your back, this is your wake up call to get out there again and own your story! Taking ownership of your situation is the first step to recovery. Look up. Get up. Claim your life and its worth.
The second step is to make the changes necessary to live life on your terms. It’s been said that doing the same thing over and over again, hoping for a different result, is the definition of insanity. So, instead of driving ourselves crazy by wishing, wanting, and hoping for change to take place, figure out the changes you can control in your life, then go make them.
Sound familiar:
- You have been working your ass off to get that promotion being dangled in front of you, but it isn’t coming to fruition.
- You are in a relationship, or multiple relationships that are wasting your time and draining you physically and emotionally.
- You are or have been in a rut.
- You have lost your way.
- You feel vulnerable to the point of breakdown.
- Nervousness and irritability are your new norm
- Negativity outweighs positivity
You are not alone. Everyone is going through something, and some are going through all of this and more. The takeaway is that we are all becoming stronger as a result of our pain. Your struggles can be some of the greatest teachers with some of the best lessons. With a little courage, and a lot of heart, we will get through and persevere.
Remember, you are amazing!
Is it going to be simple? No. Is it going to be painful? Yes. Is it worth it? Say it with me, Yes!
“Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.”
Look, change isn’t easy, but neither is living in misery and then taking the question of what could have been to your grave. This is your one and only life, don’t let it pass you by. Whether you are 21 or 81, give yourself the permission slip to live your life.
“Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.”
